Mildura cultural competency workshops encourage positive workplace change

Cultural awareness training offers a meaningful opportunity to deepen knowledge and understanding around our region’s different cultures. The interactive workshops offered at the English and Culture Learning Centre are designed to enhance practical cross-cultural communication skills for engaging with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

Being aware of our privilege, our biases and our own assumptions is paramount. Cultural competency training teaches us about others, and looking within teaches us about ourselves. To truly support CALD communities, we need knowledge of both.

We were pleased to hear what Mildura rural city council (MRCC) participants had to say about our most recent workshops.

“Your workshop was very informative. You have changed my way of thinking on so many levels.”

“It gave me a deeper understanding of cultural awareness and to be mindful of any bias I may have.”

“Everyone needs to do this training. Passionate and knowledgeable presenter, thank you.”

“Thank you for sharing the reality and giving us supportive tools and resources to better support and engage our CALD communities.”

“Thank you so much. A great balance of theory and activities.”

“The presenter has so much knowledge, and her examples made it easier to understand.”

“This training was perfect.”

“I learnt a lot, and it was very insightful. Thank you, Danielle.”

We’re incredibly proud of the impact our cultural training has made so far. A heartfelt thank you to all organisations that we have been engaged with this year.
